VIDEO: Hong Kong Aims to Cut Waste & Boost Recycling

According to the Bureau, an average person in Hong Kong disposes of about 1.3 kg of waste every day, totaling over 9000 tonnes per day overall.

The HKSAR Government has set a target to reduce waste generation drastically. Its plan to achieve this relies on a sustainable waste management system and a rigorous strategy.

The Bureau said that it will also strengthen recycling programmes and aims to encourage everyone to participate through its Community Green Station hubs that it is rolling out in each of the 18 districts.

It added that it will create economic incentives to further reduce waste at its source with the goal of minimising the use of landfills and turning waste into a resource.
